From a system point of view, it is possible that time deadlocks, that is, that time stops. Speaking as scientist, death is a clear example of a real-life time deadlock.

For a technical explanation of this phenomenon, see Section 3.1, page 30.

According to Alexander Friedmann's assumptions, there exist three models
of the universe. One of them is time deadlocking.

See A Brief History of Time, Stephen W. Hawking, 1988. See also the quotation heading the second part of the dissertation.

It is possible to carry out testing of timed systems in a complete fashion.

See Testing Timed Automata, J. Springintveld, F. Vaandrager, and P.R. D'Argenio, Theoretical Computer Science, 1999. To appear. Preliminary reports appeared as Tech. Reps. CTIT 97-17 (UT) and CSI Rep. 9712 (KUN), 1997.

( IV )

It is possible to describe a hybrid system with a stochastic automaton provided that the time derivative does not change throughout the execution.

( V )

The use of several verification methodologies and tools with different characteristics on the same case study is significantly advantageous.

See The bounded retransmission protocol must be on time!, P.R. D'Argenio, J.-P. Katoen, T.C. Ruys, and J. Tretmans. In Proceedings of TACAS'97, LNCS 1217, pages 416--431. Springer-Verlag, 1997.

Software engineers get more confident in the final design when errors are exposed in preliminary versions of this design. Likewise, Ph.D. students with their dissertations.

Clubs are timeless, Hearts tick, Spades take chances, and Diamonds are forever.

Ed Brinksma, 1999. After Ian Flemming.

There is a big book called "The art of misplacing a toilet" that Dutch architects keep in jealous secrecy.

Who writes a dissertation should have no hope on its use beyond bookshelf decoration. He or she should not look for joy and satisfaction after the writing. Succeeding with it is anyway the only precious thing.
